AREA RUG CARE
GENERAL CARE
Regular vacuuming will help rugs retain their
beauty and will extend the life of the rug.
You should clean spills immediately with the following method:
1. Blot with a clean cloth
2. Make sure the color dye is not bleeding
before proceeding
3. Spot clean with a solution of clear dish
washing detergent (non-bleach, non-petrol, non-oil) and water
4. Rinse with water
5. Blot dry.
Professional carpet cleaning is recommended
using the hot water extraction method. You should not dry clean your rug and you
should not use cleaners than contain bleach, petrol, or oil.
You should reverse and rotate the rug periodically
to evenly distribute the traffic.
- Be sure your cleaner knows how to clean
your particular type of rug. Cleaning a kelim, hand-knot, or braid is a lot different
from cleaning wall-to-wall carpet!
- Inspect the rug with the cleaner. Note
existing stains and damage before it is cleaned.
- Get a signed receipt for the work to be
done and a guarantee, if possible, that it will be done.
- Make sure the cleaner can afford an insurance
claim should something go wrong.
